Good Morning Students, Parents, and Families,

At approximately 11:00 a.m. today, Trojan building administration was made aware of a new handwritten message referencing a potential weapon on school grounds. We understand that situations like this can cause concern, and we want to share clear and timely information with you.

Administration immediately contacted our School Resource Officer and the Osawatomie Police Department. In coordination with law enforcement, a thorough search of the building was conducted, including lockers and desks. No weapons were found on the premises.

In their search, Law Enforcement were able to identify the issue and it has been resolved.

Law enforcement has determined this was not an active threat, and at no time were students or staff in danger. Throughout the process, students remained supervised, and established safety protocols were followed carefully and consistently.

The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority. We will continue to take all reports seriously, respond promptly, and work closely with our law enforcement partners to ensure our schools remain safe learning environments.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support of our students.

Sincerely,

Dear Osawatomie USD 367 families,

You may have heard about a law (SB 244) that the Kansas Legislature recently passed that restricts the way that public restrooms can be used. Beginning today, February 26th, 2026, these changes will also affect our school restrooms.

To summarize, the law just passed by the Kansas Legislature states that children and adults must only use the public restroom based on the sex they were assigned at birth.

Nothing matters more than making sure every student we serve feel safe and valued at school. If you have questions or concerns about how this change affects your child at school, don't hesitate to get in touch with the building administrator or district office without delay so that we can work together on solutions.

Thank you for your partnership, now and always.
