"Sticks in a bundle are unbreakable." African proverb
Take one pencil and most students could break it in half with the blink of an eye. Next, put a group of 8-10 pencils together and ask the strongest kid you have to break them and it isn't going to happen (at least not easily).
"Bundles" of people are so much stronger than just one person. This reminds me of the Aesop's story about "The Lion and the Mouse." The lion never thought a little 'ole mouse would ever be able to help him. Later on the big lion gets caught in a net and guess who comes to the rescue.
